When opening your swimming pool in the spring season, many things can go wrong. One problem that might occur is the swimming pool filter pump not priming. Here are some solutions to why this might happen.
First of all, there might not be any water in the skimmer box. The water level of the pool should at least be half way up the skimmer box. This way, enough water can get into the box and the strainer. Next, be sure that the skimmer strainer or basket is not clogged. This will prevent water from entering the pump. A couple of other problems may be in the hoses. There could be an air leak or a plug in the pump from over the winter. The pump might be on a lower speed too, if it is capable of two or more speeds. Lastly, make sure that all the parts of the pump and components are in working order, including the o rings.
