Many families question whether or not it’s a good idea to let the dog swim in the swimming pool. Whether the dog is of a rather small size or a large animal, it is not a good idea to let the dog swim in the swimming pool. The dog’s sharp nails can puncture and tear the swimming pool liner. A dog, unlike a human, is not aware of the maintenance or any other safety issues of the swimming pool. Their major instincts are to survive and paddle as hard as they can to stay afloat, when they are in a large body of water. It’s very similar to them trying to escape out of the bath tub when you’re trying to bathe and groom them.
A second reason as to why it’s not a good idea to let the dog swim in the swimming pool is the amount of hair loss. It’s bad enough human hair gets trapped and caught in the hair and lent trap. A dog’s hair sheds twice as much. This could cause you, as a swimming pool maintainer, to work twice as hard trying to clean and keep the swimming pool up to par.
Understanding that yes the dog is part of your family and should be included in the family fun time using the swimming pool, but in this safety instance it’s a good idea to let the dog enjoy his/her alone time away from the swimming pool.
