Most pool filter problems originate from:
- Feeding chemicals too quickly. Slugs of chlorine powder, alum, coagulating materials or soda ash may be fed through the skimmer or pump faster than they can be dissolved or distributed over the bed of the pool filter. This will immediately clog the filter surface, increasing the pressure and reducing the flow. Eventually, this will result in cementing, binding or channeling of the filter bed, if not taken abrupt action to correct the problem.
- Clogging or damaging underdrains caused by rusting, corrosion and dirt.
- Damaging and dislodged distributor or inlet baffle plate.
